Post-congress Tours
WARSZAWA, the capital of Poland, situated 300 km from Poznań. Destroyed during the war in 90%, rebuilt in its historical shape. The highly recommended venues are: The Old Market Square, a walk along the Royal Route from the Old Town to Wilanow - the former residenceof King Jan III Sobieski, Royal Castle, English-style Łazienki park, with its miniature lakes and palace.
KRAKÓW, a city wrapped in legend, where time flows differently, and where every moment becomes a moment of history. For centuries Krakow was the capital of Poland, the seat of kings, drawing great scholars and artists from the whole world. It is their talents and imagination we must thank for the city's rich legacy of unique historical relics, which reflect the most important trends in European culture.
The renaissance Royal Castle at Wawel, the gothic St Mary's Basilica, the historical trade pavilions of the Cloth Hall, the former separate Jewish city of Kazimierz, and even the Nowa Huta district, absorbed by Krakow together with its socialist-realist, industrial architecture, are all places which make a visit to Krakow extremely worthwhile.
Although the city no longer plays such an important administrative role, for many people, thanks to its rich history, Kraków nevertheless represents a synthesis of all things Polish, connecting tradition with modernity. In the special atmosphere of the beautiful and mysterious streets of the Old Town and Kazimierz you will find everything you need to allow you to escape from everyday life. Galleries full of exhibitions, cafes, pubs and restaurants: all of this is an integral part of any visit to Krakow. And all this is merely a modest part of what we can offer travellers seeking exciting destinations on the world map.
KALWARIA ZEBRZYDOWSKA - is not only a complex of historic complex of religious buildings but it is an always alive traditional avenues celebrations, it is an imposing indulgence processions and Passion mystery plays. Despite its over 400-year-old tradition it plays an important role and the influx of pilgrims during indulgence celebrations and outside of them proves its attractiveness. It is an ideal place for solitary prayers as well.
WIELICZKA - the historic Salt Mine in Wieliczka is the only mining site in the world functioning continuously since the Middle Ages. Lying on nine levels, its original excavations (traverses, chambers, lakes, as well as minor and major shafts) stretch for the total of about 300 kilometers: reaching the depth of 327 meters they illustrate all the stages of mining technology development over time.
AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU. June 14, 1940, when the first transport of Polish political prisoner deportees arrived in Auschwitz, is regarded as the date when it began to function.
At first, Poles were imprisoned and died in the camp. Afterwards, Soviet prisoners of war, Gypsies, and prisoners of other nationalities were also incarcerated there. Beginning in 1942, the camp became first of all the site of the mass murder committed against the European Jews as part of the Nazi plan for their complete destruction.
ŻELAZOWA WOLA is a village on the Utrata River in the Masovian Voivodship, about 60 kilometers from Warsaw, Poland. The village is the birthplace of two famous classical musicians: the pianist and composer Fryderyk Chopin, and the violinist Henryk Szeryng. It is known for its picturesque Mazovian landscape, and numerous winding streams surrounded by willows and hillocks.
Manor house of the Chopin family - a museum devoted to Chopin is located in the preserved annex of the former manor of the Chopin family, surrounded by a park. In summer, concerts of Chopin's music are performed by pianists from all over the world.
CZĘSTOCHOWA lies among the picturesque Jurassic rocks of Krakow-Czestochowa Upland, topped with the ruins of Medieval castles. But for the majority of Poles, Czestochowa is associated with the Jasna Gora Monastery and the icon of the Black Madonna, credited with many miracles. The sanctuary is famous as one of the world's greatest places of pilgrimage, but its imposing architecture also lures many tourists.
Częstochowa has become one of the major destinations for pilgrims throughout the whole world. It is here that the cult of Mary, cultural life and spirituality intermingle, creating an unparalleled atmosphere.
